Tide Foil at Evening

Stylised fictional coastal story scene for Tide Foil at Evening

The silver tide foil looked like a piece of sky caught in the water. Nico found it drifting beside the clubhouse skiff as the first harbour lights came on.

A bright thing can be small

The foil was only a reflection, broken by each ripple. Nico watched it move past the boat while the lure hung still at the side.

The bass crossed the light

When the fish came through, the water made a pale road around it. Nico cast once beyond the road and felt the line answer in a short, kind pull.

The bulletin closed at dusk

After the release, he folded the damp page and carried the cup back to the clubhouse. The foil vanished with the last colour in the bay.
